RMIT library no longer stocks print copies of newspapers.

Citing “low usage”, the library now only offers online versions.

RMIT journalism lecturer Alex Wake told Tom Elliott it’s “a sign of the times”.

“You just don’t get people reading newspapers in libraries at universities anymore,” Dr Wake said.

“It’s terribly sad.

“I must admit, the moment I saw that notice, I was angry.”

Tom said printed editions of newspapers have about a decade left in them.
