Residents of an up market suburb are objecting to the development of a playground in their street fearing it will ‘devalue’ their properties.

As reported in the Mornington Peninsula Leader, 42 objectors have signed a petition against plans by the local council plans to build a playground on a reserve in their street.

They say loud children, traffic and environmental impacts could lead to a “potential decline in real estate values”.

Nicole Jacobs, Director of Nicole Jacobs Property and property expert on The Block, told Justin and Kate a park would more likely have the opposite affect and that the chances of this petition being successful are “pretty slim”.

“It made me chuckle,” she said.

“Property prices actually are supposed to increase with infrastructure like this”.
