Scott Morrison has “blown his credibility” with “obvious” political stunt
Neil Mitchell says Scott Morrison has “blown his credibility” on international issues, accusing the Prime Minister of playing a political stunt ahead of the Wentworth by-election.
Mr Morrison has confirmed he is considering following Donald Trump’s lead by moving Australia’s embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The suggestion has been met with fierce backlash, with Indonesia said to be considering putting its imminent trade deal with Australia on hold due to the news.
“He (Morrison) is badly out of his depth here,” Neil Mitchell said on Wednesday.
“Maybe it’s good policy? But it’s an obvious pitch to Jewish voters in the Wentworth by-election.
“It’s upset Indonesia and every other Muslim nation – the Palestinians have expressed shock and dismay.
“Now, if we’ve got to do, so be it if it’s the right thing.
“But this is just blundering political posturing – a political stunt, not policy.
“He’s blown his credibility on international issues.”
