Generous 3AW listeners have stepped up and volunteered to help a Melbourne family in need, after Neil Mitchell put out the call on his Mornings program.

Teachers at Morang South Primary reached out to Neil, describing fellow teacher Becc’s challenging situation.

Becc is a grade one/two teacher at the school, she’s still working while her husband Tony is going through his 29th cycle of Chemo.

They have two little kids, Seb is six and three-year-old Grace.

The family is half way through their dream home but with Tony’s illness they need a helping hand to finish the back yard.

Hayden Wardrop, another teacher at Morang South Primary, told Neil Mitchell the family would never ask want to ask for help.

“The kids are beautiful, they’re a picture postcard family,” Hayden said.

“It started with a group of teachers going up to the house, with paint rollers and cups of coffee and just trying to do what we can to help out.

“Becc feels bad in asking for anything.”

Moved by the family’s touching story, 3AW was immediately inundated with callers offering to help.

3AW Gardening expert Vasili said he’d do the landscaping and put in some plants, and said “If more people want to help we’ll certainly put it out (on his 7TWO TV show) so they can grow their business”.
