Police open fire on “disgruntled teenager” during violent alleged aggravated Point Cook burglary
Police have opened fire while attempting to arrest a 14-year-old boy during a violent aggravated burglary in Point Cook overnight.
The teenager, from Kew, is alleged to have broken into the La Coruna Gardens home around 3.40am possibly armed with an axe.
Nine News reporter Mark Santomartino told Ross and John a young family were home at the time.
“Around 3.40 this morning a disgruntled teenager who may or may not have been recently expelled from a very popular private school has broken into a home to conduct an alleged aggravated burglary,” Mark said.
A 40-year-old-man suffered a minor cut to the arm.
Two young children aged four and two, also in the home, were not injured.
The 14-year-old has been charged with four counts of aggravated burglary, theft, attempted theft of motor vehicle, recklessly cause injury, unlawful assault, and assault with a weapon and commit indictable offence while on bail.
He is due to appear at a children’s court today.

Victoria Police advise an police officer discharged a firearm during the arrest attempts and as per standard procedure when an officer discharges their firearm, Professional Standard Command will investigate.
“That’s what school students are doing at this hour of a Friday morning, they’re either checking their ATAR score or committing an agg burg!” Ross said
Commander Tim Hansen told Neil Mitchell it was “just horrific” for the young family.
“A two and a four-year-old at home at the time,” Commander Hansen said.
“The offender is armed with an axe and the father has a large laceration.
“All kudos to the Dad, going into protection mode.”
