Hit-and-run killer Eric Victorsen has been sentenced to 13 years in prison as the victim’s family is left is disbelief.

Victorsen, 20, was jailed after newlywed couple Matt Goland and wife Bita Zaeim were both killed in the hit-and run incident in April.

The court heard Victorsen ran a red light while travelling at 114km/h in a 80km/h zone shortly before the incident and was disqualified from driving at the time.

He racked up 96 offences prior the collision and left youth detention in November last year.

Victorsen could be freed from jail before his 30th birthday.

“It isn’t fair,” Mr Goland’s mother Helen said outside court.

“He could be out in eight years and have Christmas with his family, we will never be able to have Christmas again with our whole family.”

Michael Goland, father of Matt, told Justin Smith the family remained “totally upset’ at Thursday’s sentencing.

“I think it’s disgusting,” he said.

I cannot critisise the judge, he was terrific but the law allows people like this to run amock like this.

“Even since the day he killed my children he’s show no remorse to us.”
