Brownlow medallist Adam Cooney to retire

Sportsday

Brownlow medallist Adam Cooney has called it quits.

The Essendon midfielder will play his 250th and final AFL game this weekend.

The Bombers announced on Tuesday the former Western Bulldogs star was retiring.

Fittingly, Essendon is playing the Bulldogs on Sunday.

The 30-year-old shot to prominence in 2008, winning the league’s highest individual honour and All-Australian selection.
