Police have warned there could be further arrests after another violent protest in Melbourne’s CBD.

Masked protesters, from rival groups, clashed with police and media outside parliament on Sunday.

Australian flags were also burned.

Three people have already been charged with assault and criminal damage offences.

CCTV footage will be reviewed in the hope of catching further offenders.

The government has promised a crackdown on legislation surrounding people’s ability to cover their faces and not before time, according to the police association.

‘If people come to a protest event in disguise, they’re sure to be up to no good,’ Police Association assistant secretary Bruce McKenzie told 3AW Breakfast.
