RUMOUR CONFIRMED: Learner drivers face new night driving rules

Ross and Russel

RUMOUR CONFIRMED: Learner drivers will be required to clock up 20 hours of night-time driving before they will be eligible to become a probationary driver.

VicRoads has confirmed to 3AW Breakfast learner drivers will need to show they’ve done at least 20 hours, double what was previously required.

It’s unclear when the change will come into effect.

The move is part of Victoria’s ‘Towards Zero 2016-2020 Road Safety and Strategy Plan.’
