‘A bit surreal’: Mildura residents caught off-guard by snap lockdown
Mildura residents were plunged into lockdown on Friday night.
But it wasn’t until yesterday that exposure sites in the border town began to be listed.
Brett Millington, CEO of Mildura Regional Development, the peak tourism organisation representing the town, says the closure was “a bit surreal”.
There were 18 active cases of COVID-19 in Mildura as of yesterday.
Four exposure sites — Davo’s General Store & Take-Away, Chloe’s Nails and Beauty, CrossFit Motion 136 and Totally Workwear — were added to the Health Department’s list of exposure sites late yesterday.
“Part of the challenge is, being a cross-border town, you have both sides of the river that are exposure sites because people move back and forth,” Mr Millington said.
