‘A blot on our history’: Neil Mitchell slams proceedings in the Lawyer X scandal

Neil Mitchell has slammed proceedings in the Lawyer X scandal, as it was revealed senior police officers and lawyer Nicola Gobbo are unlikely to be charged over their roles in the scandal.

Ms Gobbo is a former defence lawyer and police informant at the forefront of “one of the most disgraceful episodes in Victorian history” according to Neil Mitchell.

“We’ve spent $125 million, and there are no charges, nobody is accountable,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

He says Nicola Gobbo and several police officers “breached every rule of decency and fairness in the law” and now it all ends in nothing.

“This has been a blot on our history, and today that blot is getting bigger,” he said.
