An Australian paedophile on the run for 22 years has finally been found after a freak accident in Rio.

Christopher John Gott was sentenced to six years in prison for child sex offences in Darwin, but freed on parole in 1996.

That’s when he vanished, just as Victoria Police was investigating him over further sex offences while he was teaching in Fitzroy during the 1980s.

He hadn’t been seen since.

Until, as The Australian journalist Cameron Stewart told Ross and John, the 63-year-old was seriously injured in the freak crash on Copacabana beach in January this year (pictured above).

Gott was among 17 people taken out by a car that was accidentally driven through crowds in January.

Stewart told Ross and John the man is unlikely to survive.
