A grieving father has made an emotional plea to change a law in Victoria to recognise unborn children.

Andrew Aldridge’s wife Elodie was 34 weeks pregnant with their child Remi when she was involved in a car crash and tragically lost Remi following the accident.

But under law, because Remi wasn’t born yet, he wasn’t considered a person and the driver cannot be charged over his death.

New South Wales currently has a law which recognises an unborn child as a separate person, but not here in Victoria.

“It’s too late for us, but it might not be too late for someone else,” Mr Aldridge told Heidi Murphy.

“I will fight this for as long as it takes.”
