A-League holds the key to bold new Dandenong stadium plans
Ambitious plans have been unveiled for a 15,000-seat sports stadium in Dandenong.
But there’s no team to play there.
The $170 million venue, set to be 100 metres from Dandenong station, would be home to one of two new proposed A-League franchises.
But the south-east team is up against two rival bids from Melbourne, and eight from interstate.
Football Federation Australia will decide in October.
At this stage the state government has not committed any money for the stadium.
It would also be used for rugby, concerts and festivals.
