A Luxury Escape: 5 reasons to visit Bali

Article image for A Luxury Escape: 5 reasons to visit Bali

Looking to escape the winter cold? Always wanted to visit Bali? Denis Walter talks with travel expert Kelly Landry who shares her top 5 reasons to visit Bali.

1. Getting there

It’s a quick five and a half hour flight from Melbourne to Bali and as one of our closest neighbours it’s a popular choice for a short getaway.

2. Beautiful beach retreats

Nusa Dua is one of the few places in Bali that boasts white sandy beaches which are safe for swimming. The area is known for being an enclave of luxury 5-star resorts and it’s the perfect place to take the family.

3. Enjoy 5-star luxury for less

As far as luxury is concerned, Bali is among the best in the world especially if you are staying at one of the best hotel chains like the Ritz-Carlton.

4. A family friendly destination

Being so close to Australia, the short flight definitely makes this an easy destination to take the kids. Once you arrive, it’s a children’s paradise. Most hotels cater brilliantly for kids and the Ritz-Carlton is no exception. There’s a waterslide, PlayStation lounge, outdoor playground and more. Outside the hotel, there are water parks and animal sanctuaries, all close by and easy to get to.

5. Tour, shop, enjoy!

One of my favourite places to visit in Bali is Ubud. It’s great for a day trip to wander around the galleries, see some monkeys and enjoy the spirituality. The art market is worth checking out. From street bazaars to shopping malls, there’s plenty of places to shop including the Bali Collection. It boasts brand named stores and international retailers. If water sports are more your pace, there’s everything from scuba diving, snorkelling, boat tours, island tours and fishing trips. Or take in one of the traditional temples.
