A man has saved a family in Melbourne’s northwest suburbs after they were completely unaware their house was on fire.

The Rumour File was told how after seeing the smoke in Keilor Park, the man called triple-0 to find out the family were still cooking dinner inside.

The hero, Tony Busutti, told 3AW Breakfast he thought it was going to be a ‘disastrous’ situation.

‘I noticed a fire with very thick black smoke from behind a petrol station,’ he told Ross and John.

‘When I drove into the street there was nobody outside.’

Tony said it wasn’t until he ran to the house and saw the fence and garage on fire that the family came outside.

‘There were two adults, a child and young puppy.’

‘The main thing is the family is fine.’

MFB have confirmed that two trucks attended a property in Zagreb Court in Keilor Park on Wednesday at 6.14pm after they were called out to a fence and garage fire.
