A missed opportunity for a champion on home soil

More fuel has been added to the fire with the cancellation of the Commonwealth Games.

Appearing on 3AW Breakfast, home-grown teenage sensation Gout Gout said he would have competed and potentially won gold if they were still being held in Melbourne.

“It’s a home games and you know, that would be an amazing opportunity to run in Melbourne if the Com Games was there,” Gout Gout said.

The 2026 games were set to be in Melbourne last week, but the cancellation by the state government meant the host city was changed to Glasgow.
