THIS WEEK IN FOOD

FROTHY-CHOC
Good Beer Week is fast approaching (May 12 – 21), so to whet your appetite, how’s this for an even? The boys from Cavalier Brewing are teaming up with Monsieur Truffe and East Elevation to create a chocolate beer, beer chocolate and indulgent sit down dinner. It’ll take place on Tues 16th May – more info and tix at www.goodbeerweek.com.au

Meatstock: a festival of BBQ and tunes.

THE BEST OF BOTH
Forget Woodstock, what about Meatstock? It’s a festival all about barbecue and tunes, and it’s taking place next weekend at Melbourne Showgrounds next weekend. There’ll be smoking and barbecuing demonstrations with the likes of Jess Pryles and ‘Hillbilly Wes’,  plus live music from acts like The Fumes and the Delta Riggs. FEST-TEA-VAL
We may be a self-professed city of coffee snobs, but we still loves our teas – so you might be interesting in the Melbourne Tea Festival, which is taking place on Sat 20th May at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. There’ll be a tea market, plus workshops for things like Native Australian Tea Ceremonies and making Kombucha. More info: www.melbourneteafestival.com.au

AND SOME TRAVEL BITES
Thanks to our airline insider, Brian Wilson, we know people love pocketing goodies from airline flights, so what’s the most common item stoeln from business class on Etihad Airways? Why, it’s the lambs-wool duvet!  Perfect for a throw on the sofa, these duvets are proving to be popular items on ebay. Not to be outdone, Emirates announced adding similar duvets as part its first class
refresh which is currently being rolled out across their network.

WINTER WALKS
If the four day walk I did on Maria Island sounded a little too strenuous for you, how about a two night winter getaway to that Tasmanian oasis, you’ll stay at the stunning, historic Bernacchi House, do some day walks and retire for candle-lit dinner and fireside drinks at night. www.mariaislandwalk.com.au
