A paramedic has treated himself for a heart attack in Victoria’s west

RUMOUR FILE: A country paramedic has treated himself for a heart attack in Victoria’s west.

‘Physician Heal Thyself’ told the Rumour File, her neighbour, who is a paramedic, didn’t feel well and thought he was having a heart attack.

Speaking on 3AW Breakfast, paramedic David Watson, told Ross and John he applied the ECG on himself, before ringing colleagues to alert them.

‘I was just warming up to do a workout, and just got the sudden onset of crushing chest pain and tingles down both arms, so I quickly rushed in, grabbed the heart monitor from the ambulance, put myself on it and thought, uh oh, that’s not right’.

David then drove himself to a nearby hospital, after 20 minutes more paramedics arrived and took over.

He was flown to Geelong Hospital where he was immediately operated on after suffering from a major heart attack.

‘I went to the doctor yesterday, and he said i’m lucky to be alive because I was so quick to get on to it, because I was able to self diagnose’, he said.
