A Scrabble champion has been banned for allegedly cheating!
A Scottish Scrabble champion has been banned from competition for allegedly cheating.
Allan Simmons has reportedly been banned for a year by the Association of British Scrabble Players because he violated rules governing how letter tiles are withdrawn from cloth bags during matches.
Marj Miller from Scrabble Victoria said it’s a serious accusation.
“Before you put your hand into the bag of letters, you should show an open palm to your opponent,” Ms Miller said.
“(Otherwise) people might palm a letter and put it back in.”
Ms Miller said she’d be “very surprised” if the accusations were proven correct.
