There have been “about a dozen” serious incidents on Melbourne’s roads since 5.30am.

Chris Miller from the Department of Transport says it’s “certainly been a busy morning”.

A seven-car smash on the Princes Freeway city-bound, just prior to the M80 Ring Road has caused significant delays this morning.

Meanwhile, a four-car collision on the Deer Park Bypass, before Robinsons Road, is also causing problems in both directions.

There are also out-bound delays on the Monash Freeway near Huntingdale Road due to a collision.

On the Eastern Freeway, the right lane is closed citybound at Middleborough Road following a collision.
