‘Absolutely awful’: Young boy assaulted and woman stabbed in the CBD

A 10-year-old boy has been assaulted and a 46-year-old woman has been allegedly stabbed with scissors in the CBD this afternoon.

The shocking assault occurred on Spencer Street near the corner of La Trobe Street, with eyewitness Liz telling Jacqui Felgate the victims were “clearly shaken”.

“That is absolutely awful,” the 3AW Drive host said.

Police in the vicinity swiftly arrested a 27-year-old Sunshine West man and seized a pair of scissors.

He remains in custody to be interviewed by police.

It is believed the parties were not known to each other.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

“It was horrific, it was horrible to witness,” Zorka Dunstan, Superintendent at North West Metro Region, told Felgate.
