‘Absurd’ bat problem preventing air ambulances from landing at Bendigo Hospital

Tom Elliott

Bats are preventing air ambulances from landing at Bendigo Hospital.

Ambulance Victoria has confirmed one instance of an air ambulance being unable to land due to risk of wildlife strike, but National Party MP for Northern Victoria, Gaelle Broad, says she’s been told it may have occurred up to eight times.

“I’ve been told by a local person we’re having air ambulances diverted … to the airport, which is adding up to 45 minutes travel time for patients, so I was very concerned to hear about that,” she told Neil Mitchell.
