The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has Qantas in the spotlight as it investigates claims the airline is raising prices on tickets purchased with flight credits Australians accrued during the pandemic.

ACCC chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb told Neil Mitchell the commission was looking into it after consumers raised their concerns.

“That investigation is ongoing,” she said.

Qantas “completely rejects” the claim it is cancelling frequent flyer bookings made with points so those seats can be resold.

Meanwhile, the ACCC chair provided an update on the investigation into allegations Airbnb misled costumers with accommodation prices being referred to into American dollars, not Australian.

“Their records identified 2000 people who they had received complaints from, but they still hadn’t taken action until we intervened,” Gina Cass-Gottlieb said.
