China has reportedly dropped a flare in the presence of an Australian navy helicopter.

National Affairs editor at Channel Nine, Andrew Probyn, says the incident occurred when HMAS Hobart was at the Yellow Sea off the coast of Korea to help prevent North Korea from receiving sanctioned goods.

“I was told this was very close to being a very serious, potentially fatal incident, and only good … reflexes of the pilot diverted disaster … clearly an act of aggression,” he told Tom Elliott.
