Acting Ambulance Victoria chief hits back at code red ‘brand management’ claims
Acting Ambulance Victoria chief Libby Murphy has rejected suggestions officials attempted to sweep Monday night’s “code red” under the carpet, but admits the public communication process may need to be reviewed.
The state opposition is accusing the Andrews government of trying to bury the issue.
Victorians were unaware there had been a code red in the early hours of Tuesday morning until the ambulance union broke the news on 3AW later that day.
Libby Murphy told Heidi Murphy it wasn’t a deliberate attempt to keep the community in the dark.
“There is no brand management with Ambulance Victoria – we are a public sector agency whose responsibility is to the community of Victoria and we’ll continue to operate in that way and make sure the community is first and foremost of everything we do,” she said.
