Acting top cop outlines key priority in first weeks of new role

Acting police chief Rick Nugent says fixing the mood amongst officers is one of his biggest priorities in his new role.
Mr Nugent has taken over as Victoria’s top cop after a no-confidence motion saw Shane Patton ousted over the weekend.
Joining Tom Elliott in the studio, he said resolving the ongoing police pay dispute was key to lifting spirits within the force.

“I’m told morale (with officers) is low,” Mr Nugent said on 3AW Mornings.
“I’m told the members are frustrated and from the conversations I’ve had, they’re keen to have the pay deal finalised.”
Mr Nugent also confirmed that he will apply for the role permanently following conversations he’s had in the first few days in the role.
