Advice from Aileene Gillard on her 101st birthday

Aileene Gillard has just turned 101.

She was born in 1915 – the same year as the Gallipoli campaign.

It’s a remarkable effort from a remarkable woman who still enjoys the odd glass of sherry.

Ms Gillard said the trick to reaching 101 is to ‘ignore the fact that you’ve become 100’.

Aileene’s daughter Lyn confirmed she received a letter from the queen last year.
