AFL boss Gillon McLachlan locks horns with Gerard Healy over NAB Challenge

3AW Football

AFL boss Gillon McLachlan has been forced to defend the NAB Challenge during a heated debate on 3AW.

McLachlan locked horns with Sports Today hosts Gerard Healy and Dwayne Russell, who were left far from impressed with the first weekend of action.

Gerard Healy questioned whether it was worth watching at all due to the non-competitive nature of games.

But McLachlan hit back.

‘People understand what they’re watching,’ the AFL boss said on Sports Today.

‘They know exactly what they’re getting because it’s the pre-season.’

But Gerard Healy questioned whether it was damaging the game’s brand.

‘Gerard, you can be as negative as you like,’ McLachlan quipped.

It only got more interesting from there…
