AFLW star responds to calls for complete ‘re-draft’ of competition
AFLW star Ellie Blackburn has dismissed suggestions from Collingwood’s first women’s coach the league needs to “start again” due to what he says is a worsening gap between the best and worst teams in the competition.
Wayne Siekman called for a re-draft of all players to even things out.
Love @aflwomens but to be honest and just my opinion, it is becoming so hard to watch a top 4 side against a bottom 6 side. The gap is so big and with 4 new teams in 2023 it will get worse. Only way to fix it and please don’t shoot me down is to start again & redraft all players

Speaking on 3AW, Blackburn said she didn’t think the gap was as big as Siekman had claimed.
“I don’t think so,” she said.
“The top-end talent, as players, I’d probably say there is more a difference in that – the top-end players in the league in comparison to the bottom-end players – but not necessarily teams.
“I think we proved that on the weekend.
“We had only won one game and then beat the team that was sitting on top of the ladder, undefeated.”
