Allan government accused of ‘financial corruption’ over Suburban Rail Loop cost blow out

The federal opposition has sensationally called for the Suburban Rail Loop to be scrapped, setting the scene for a tense battle ahead of next year’s election.

The project’s price tag has become a central issue at both federal and state issue as costs continue to blow out, with state shadow Minister for Major Projects David Southwick laying the blame at current “financial incompetence” from Jacinta Allan’s Labor government.

“This is a government that borders on financial incompetence,” Mr Southwick told 3AW Drive.

“I call it financial corruption where you have a government signing these massive contracts where we don’t have the money.”
