A taxi driver has been injured following an alleged hit-run in Melbourne’s west.

?Police say just after 1am on Friday a stolen car collided with a taxi at the intersection of Somerville and Williamstown roads in Yarraville.

The cab driver became trapped in his vehicle and had to be freed by emergency services before being taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

The driver fled on foot but was caught by police when he made a call for medical assistance from a nearby address.

A 24-year-old man from New South Wales is under police guard in hospital.

the car is believed to have been stolen during an aggravated burglary in Kennington two days ago.
