Alleged plant thief on the loose in Darebin

There’s a serial plant thief running riot in Darebin.

And he’s been caught in the act targeting some of Preston’s flashiest gardens.

Michael Kinsella told Neil Mitchell he was woken up one morning by a squelch coming from his garden.

‘I went outside and saw him pushing a red trolley away with my lillies sticking out of it,’ Mr Kinsella explained on 3AW Mornings.

‘I chased him down the street in my bare feet, screaming things at him while I followed.

‘When I caught up I said – ‘you’ve just stolen them from my garden’ and he said ‘yeah, I need them for mine’.’

Police said they were aware of the spate of alleged thefts and were seeking more information from the public.
