Paramedics expect demand for their services to soar today as people celebrate Australia Day with a few too many drinks.

‘It’s one of our worst days,’ George Braitberg from the Royal Melbourne Hospital’s emergency department told Ross and John.

Michael Georgiou from Ambulance Victoria said alcohol inflicted a big strain on health and emergency services.

‘We urge everyone to take care of one another on our national day,’ he said.

‘Just think before you drink.

‘Alcohol does impair your judgement and can cause some serious injuries.’
