Ambulance Victoria chief can finally ‘see light at the end of the tunnel’

Ambulance Victoria chief Tony Walker says demand for paramedics has settled on the back of Victoria’s Omicron COVID-19 surge over Christmas, but the system remains under pressure.

He spoke with Neil Mitchell on Monday following the easing of the Code Brown for the health care system.

“We’re not through it, yet, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and, as I said to a friend at the weekend, it’s no longer a train coming towards us,” Mr Walker said.

He said unnecessary Triple Zero calls remained an issue.
