An experts take on the benefit major works will have on Melbourne

With the current works on the West Gate Tunnel and train line closures, questions have been raised if each project will have the desired benefits for the city.

Professor of urban policy and director of the centre for urban research at RMIT, Jago Dodson, says the West Gate Tunnel will “certainly” benefit Transurban — the primary beneficiary.

“The extent to which it will provide benefits for the travelling public are probably less certain,” he told Shane McInnes, filling in for Tom Elliott.
