An infectious diseases physician at The Alfred hospital has given Tom Elliott an insight into how COVID-19 patients are being treated in Australia.

There has been plenty of conjecture recently about treatments and their effectiveness.

James McMahon, Head of The Alfred’s Clinical Research Unit in the Department of Infectious Diseases, said one method remained most effective in stopping COVID-19 in its tracks – being vaccinated.

“We probably haven’t seen the great advances in treatment that we’ve seen in vaccines, which has an amazing ability to prevent severe disease,” he said.
