Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will announce today an investigation into the rising electricity prices.

This comes as the Hazelwood power station begins shutting down.

Concerned listener Hugh Turner told Neil Mitchell how he is stocking up for the future.

‘I’m investigating the possibility of getting my own generator, petrol driven, which is adding to the pollution problem,’ Hugh told Neil.

‘What happens in the mean time? Domestic demand will increase.’

‘Candles are good for lighting, but won’t be much good for charging the mobile phone.’
