Ando clips controversial and “crass” horse race

The controversial Everest horse race highlights the differences between Sydney and Melbourne, says Jon Anderson.

The Herald Sun sports reporter told Ross and John he’d watch the world’s richest turf horse with interest on Saturday, however he said it had left him happy to be a Melburnian.

“Nothing could be clearer,” Ando said on Tuesday.

“It (The Everest) is all about money. It’s crass.

“Having said that, it’s a race I’ll watch with interest.

“I don’t know (Racing NSW boss) Peter V’Landys but he’s very aggressive in his marketing strategy and I think most of it has been fairly successful – I don’t necessarily like it – but I think it’s been successful.”
