Ando’s take: West Coast drug revelations
Former West Coast star Daniel Chick has gone public with allegations of rampant drug abuse during the Eagles’ 2006 premiership year.
Chick, who played with Hawthorn before moving west, has told the Herald Sun the use of cocaine, ecstasy and methamphetamines were widespread in the squad.
He also claims some players would snort crushed Xanax and take Valium with vodka to relax on flights to and from Perth.
3AW Breakfast sport correspondent Jon Anderson said ‘you would question Daniel Chick’s timing’.
‘A staffer allegedly hid players from testing; that is extraordinary,’ Ando said.
But Ando said the revelations wouldn’t affect former West Coast coach John Worsfold’s chances of winning the Essendon coaching job.
