Andrew Rule explains the magic of Winx

One four-letter word will dominate headlines in Melbourne this week – Winx.

The champion racehorse will shoot for her fourth straight Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.

It’s a feat no other horse has ever achieved.

Not Kingston Town. Not Sunline. Not even Phar Lap.

Respected journalist Andrew Rule has written a book about the wonder mare, which was released on Monday.

Neil Mitchell is the first to admit he’s not a racing fan.

“But this is one of the best books I’ve read on the sport,” he said.

He spoke with Rule on Monday, who gave a fascinating insight into what made Winx the champion she is.
