Anger as one-handed woman denied job at Sunshine cafe

Jacqui Felgate

A woman who was knocked back for a waitressing job says she believes it’s because she has one hand.

Jamie Wills told Tom Elliott she applied for the job at a Sunshine cafe over the internet, where everything seemed to be progressing well.

She got through a phone interview and was told by the cafe’s manager to come in for a trial.

It was then she mentioned she only had one hand.

After struggling to make contact with the cafe manager from that point on, she was then eventually told the job had been filled.

But Ms Wills, who is already working at another cafe and has plenty of experience, doesn’t believe that’s the case.

She said it left her angry and upset.

‘I really want to work,’ she said on 3AW Drive.

‘I just feel like it’s because I have one hand.’
