Anger over changes to West Gate-CityLink link changes

The Andrews government has been accused of duping residents over plans to scrap tunnels for ramps soaring over houses to link the West Gate Freeway to CityLink.

The Western Distributor toll road has altered the promised tunnels and now plans to use above ground ramps to allow trucks to access the route.

The original and altered plans have been made by Transurban as an unsolicited proposal.

Yarraville and Spotswood locals told 3AW Breakfast of their anger and disappointment this morning.

‘We’re obviously concerned about the noise and pollution ramifications,’ Yarraville resident Scott Ellerton said.

The plans are still in a consultative stage.

More than 100 residents have already signed a petition over the changes.
