RUMOUR CONFIRMED

The sudden closure of Portsea Pier without warning yesterday has been described as a “devastating” blow for anglers.

It’s peak calamari season and Portsea Pier is the best spot in Port Phillip to catch them.

Host of Talking Fishing David Kramer says “it’s like closing Richmond Station after the finals to do a bit of maintenance”.

“This is THE time to catch the big calamari,” he told Ross and Russel.

“It’s got access to really deep water and good weed beds, so all those people that don’t own a boat, that’s the number one place to go to catch calamari off the pier.”

“It’s absolutely ridiculous.”
