Anglican pastor chased by mob after waving Israeli flag outside church

An Anglican pastor says he was left terrified after an angry mob chased him through the streets of Sydney on Monday.

Mark Leach — whose mother is a Jewish holocaust survivor — stood on the steps of a cathedral in his clerical collar, waving an Israeli flag for “two minutes” as a pro-Palestine crowd nearby chanted “kill the Jews”.

“I ran away because they chased me up Bathurst Street and on to George Street … I’ve not been that scared in a very, very long time, and that was on the streets of Sydney in broad daylight,” he told Neil Mitchell.
