Angry residents protest to save Stonnington tennis court
The closure of a tennis club in Melbourne’s inner-east has prompted an outcry from angry residents.
The Victorian Tennis Academy, along with the Cubbyhouse cafe, have been given a few days to move out after Stonnington Council declined to renew their lease.
The council has instead granted the contract a national leisure chain.
Local resident Sue told Neil Mitchell the courts are a popular part of the area.
“They’re constantly in use, every day of the year,” she said.
The tennis club has been operating out of the Armadale park for 18 years.
