Another council accused of implementing ‘bin tax’ to get around rate caps

Another council has been accused of implementing a “new bin tax” to get around rate caps.

Hobsons Bay Council has come under fire from Council Watch after it emerged it would hike waste charges by nearly eight per cent to pay for their “considerable investment” in bins.

“We have been saying this is just a way for people to get around the rate cap, and it’s exactly what Hobsons Bay has done,” Dean Hurlston told 3AW Drive.
