Another drive-by shooting at Kittens strip club

The Kittens strip club has been targeted in a drive-by shooting for the second time in five weeks.

A man is in a stable condition after being shot in the face outside the Cecil St venue about 11.30pm yesterday.

Police have no description of the car, nor of those involved.

In November last year, two masked men drove past Kittens on Cecil Street and unloaded at least two rounds of gunfire about 2.10am.

A security guard, who was standing outside the club at the time, was shot in the arm.

The Age’s senior editor Mark Hawthorne, filling in for Sly Of The Underworld, told 3AW Breakfast there has been similar shootings at other CBD establishments.

And he said the shootings could be linked to ‘an old-fashioned turf war’ between bikies.

‘If you control the door at a nightclub, you control not only who gets in, but also what gets in.

‘Security is run by some hugely reputable businesses, but like any industry there’s some bad seeds.’

So is it safe to go to Kittens? And who is going to Kittens on a Tuesday night anyway?

Hawthorne shed some light on that as well.

Anyone with information about the shooting incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
