Anthony Albanese has spoken to Perth Live host Oliver Peterson on 6PR for the first time since assuming the country’s top job.

Australia’s 31st prime minister (with Peterson above last April) had his first live on-air chat since Saturday’s election win with listeners in WA, where Labor scored key swings critical to their election triumph.

“It’s a big deal and it’s a big change for the country. I feel very humbled by having the honor of serving as Prime Minister for our great country,” he told Peterson, who scored the exclusive with our new PM despite being sick at home with COVID.

Albo also covered a range of other issues, including:

  • His reaction to how WA voted
  • The rise of the Teals
  • Tanya Plibersek’s apology to Peter Dutton
  • What’s next on the agenda
