There’s been outrage over a revelation the Australia Electoral Commission will allow a tick to be counted as a “yes” but a cross won’t be counted as a “no” in the upcoming Voice referendum.

Chief election analyst at the Australia Broadcasting Corporation, Antony Green, says people should just vote “yes” or “no”.

“If you vote “yes” or “no” your vote counts, no questions asked. If you write anything else … a returning officer will adjudicate whether the intent is clear … if people want their vote to count, write “yes” or “no,” he told 3AW Breakfast.
